Welcome to 31 Days of Horror Figures 2019. For the month of October, we will be spotlighting the very best of the macabre, bizarre, monstrous, and villainous action figures the industry has to offer. There will be both old and new figures here and perhaps even a significance to why we picked that figure for that day (and perhaps not). This is NOT a ranking list, just full-blown horror fun for the greatest month of the year.
If you click the “Entry for 2018” link above, you will see this is a sequel, of sorts. Certainly, we love Stuart Gordon’s Re-Animator here. Yet, it is sad that we now have two figures and two heads of both Dr. Herbert West and Dr. Carl Hill but no bride from the follow-up, Bride of the Re-Animator.
Side tangent, I am expecting my first child and I was told that when you become a father you watch movies with a different set of eyes. Well, the wife and I put on Bride recently, as it may the last time we see it for a while, and boy did we realize one thing, this movie is messed up. That “father’s eyes” thing is no joke. I have been thinking lately, when can I show my son Star Wars, Casablanca, or The Wizard Oz? As for the Bride of the Re-Animator, maybe age 15.
Kudos to Amok time Toys for releasing a 3.75-inch figure of Jefferey Combs as West. The legendary character actor rightfully deserved his most iconic role in these dimensions. After all who doesn’t need to see Herbert West next to Super7’s ReAction figures of the Universal Monsters?
See both films trailers below. Be sure to check out the full list of figures as it evolves HERE.
