Welcome to AFJ's 31 Days of Horror Figures. For the month of October, we will be spotlighting the very best of the macabre, bizarre, monstrous, and villainous action figures the industry has to offer. There will be both old and new figures here and perhaps even a significance to why we picked that figure for that day (and perhaps not). This is NOT a ranking list, just full blown horror fun for the greatest month of the year. #AFJ4LIFE
While we were compiling our list, we noticed that there were not a ton of women on it. Obviously, women usually play the victim in horror films, however, outside of Regan, from The Exorcist (Day 13), and the Bride of Frankenstein, there are not many female monsters. Which does bring us to Carrie White. IS she the monster or simply a product of her environment? Which is what makes Stephen King's story so compelling.
Today we salute Carrie White with Funko's POP! likeness. A likeness that it is complete with pig's blood and corsage. As far as the film goes, never watch the remake. Brian DePalma captured a certain time and place, that the remake falls so very flat on. As far as the toy industry goes, and female horror figures, I think it is really an untapped market. Furthermore, I was shocked that we didn't get a chase POP! of Tommy (William Katt) or a two-pack of Tommy and Carrie together, of course with a small bucket of blood.
