Welcome to AFJ's 31 Days of Horror Figures. For the month of October, we will be spotlighting the very best of the macabre, bizarre, monstrous, and villainous action figures the industry has to offer. There will be both old and new figures here and perhaps even a significance to why we picked that figure for that day (and perhaps not). This NOT a ranking list, just full blown horror fun for the greatest month of the year. #AFJ4LIFE

It’s fun to look back and see how far Sideshow Collectibles has come. In terms of both price and packaging. There is definitely a difference especially if you look back just 14 years at their Creature from the Black Lagoon. The quality is just as good then as it is now, however, the box, in the style of poster, is fantastic.

The Creature from the Black Lagoon also makes our list as this was the one original monster in the whole Universal Monster series. Certainly, the likes of Frankenstein, Dracula, the Invisible Man, and the Phantom of the Opera were all based on literally works. This monster was crafted by Universal and is truly unique and often imitated (see The Shape of Water). The Creature from the Black Lagoon was also released in 3D. Next to its two sequels, Revenge of the Creature and The Creature Walks Among Us, no other Universal Classic Monster film was given this treatment.

A slightly tougher film to watch as the weather turns to Fall temperatures, with its beach and jungle settings. The film is a true classic of the horror genre and one that deserves a figure on AFJ's list. Whichever version you prefer, the Creature deserves walk among your collection.

See the film's trailer below and check out AFJ's full list of figures as it evolves HERE.

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
