With the debut of the White Ranger Lightning Series figure by Hasbro, at the 2018 Power Morphicon (seen HERE), AFJ started to ponder what figures would appear in the first year. Obviously, we are going to get the Rangers team. Yet, the villains are really the draw here for us. We put together a list of 5 Must-Have Villains and 5 NOT to have in the first year of figures by Hasbro. Agree? Disagree? Sound off in the comments section below. As per the norm, we will send this list to Hasbro! #AFJ4LIFE #nationalpowerrangersday
5 MUST-HAVE VILLAINS
Seasons: Mighty Morphin 2, Mighty Morphin 3, Zeo, HyperForce
AFJ's Reasoning: Okay, so this one is a gimmie. We know Lord Zedd will be in the first wave. He has to be as the baddest of the bad and probably the best looking villain character (action figure wise) in the series.
Seasons: Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Zeo, Mystic Force, HyperForce
AFJ's Reasoning: Will we get the movie version with Madonna cones (see picture above)? Hasbro will certainly take this character's action figure rendition a notch, but just how far will they go?
Seasons: Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Power Rangers Zeo, Power Rangers in Space
AFJ's Reasoning: The latest movie incarnation, of the figure, was a joke. Imagine what Hasbro will do for this man-lion with wings and golden armor. Not to mention he should be as big as the Hulk if not Juggernaut.
Comic: Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (Boom! Studios)
AFJ's Reasoning: We'll admit it, we are cheating on this one. After all how hard would it be to turn the regular White Ranger figure (linked above) into the evil parallel universe one? This should probably be a shared exclusive with Comic-Con and Power Morphincon.
AFJ's Reasoning: Every action figure line always has that one obligatory female figure. That's not true with the Power Rangers as three of the main characters on the show are female (Pink Ranger, Yellow Ranger, and Rita). So why not have another high detail costumed female villain?
***Bonus Pick*** - Pudgy Pig
Season: Mighty Morphin 1
AFJ's Reasoning: It has to happen. It just has to happen. If Hasbro can make Modok, Pudgy Pig can make it to the pegs (again). You gotta believe, Junkies.
THE 5 NOT VILLAINS
Insert the obligatory facepalm gif here.
Episode: “For Whom the Bell Trolls” (Mighty Morphin 1)
AFJ's Reasoning: A picture can say 1,000 words. We have one, no.
Episode: "Storybook Rangers, Part 1"(Mighty Morphin 2)
AFJ's Reasoning: Would it be all that bad to feature Turkey Jerky in the Lightning Series line? Yes. Besides Hasbro is not going to shell out all that money to design a turkey warrior figure. It took decades for Spider-Ham to make it to the line. Turkey Jerky, we'll see you in 2030!
Episodes: “Trick or Treat”, “Zedd's Monster Mash”, “Power Rangers Hyperforce Shattered Grid Part 1” (all Mighty Morphin 1)
AFJ's Reasoning: It's not so crazy to believe this guy could happen, especially with the POP! out there now (seen HERE). It still shouldn't happen though.
Episodes: Dino Charge, Dino Super Charge
AFJ's Reasoning: The little white head coming out of his torso is the stuff of nightmares. The design is actually pretty cool. Still... move along Hasbro and pick someone else.
Episode: “I, Eye Guy" (Mighty Morphin 1)
AFJ's Reasoning: No. No. No. the design is all wrong for mass producing this figure. In short, Hasbro has to make one sculpt or mold and will not be able to use it again. Oh, did we mention that this villain is actually terrible? This villain is actually terrible.
