AFJ’S TOP APRIL PRE-ORDERS!

By Jarrett Kruse

Every month it gets harder and harder to trim down my list of top pre-orders to my 100% liking. The reason being that their is just so much cool stuff being released that I feel needs to be in my collection, whether to review or for my personal stash. Weigh in with your picks that we might have missed or anything you have already pre-ordered.

10. NECA E.T. 3′ STUNT PUPPET PROP REPLICA ($289.99)
Forget buying that new home security system. You can just wait for NECA to release this 3-foot tall E.T. (almost life-size) prop replica from the beloved 1982 film about a Reese’s Pieces eating alien. The puppet is made of foam rubber and latex that is scarily accurate, a NECA hallmark. A must have for your display room or local comic shop owner.

9. DC COLLECTIBLES DC BOMBSHELLS WAVE 2 ($23.99 EACH)
I love the art of the WWII era and DC COLLECTIBLES has perfectly captured the “We Can Do It” era of women of the mid-20th Century. Artist Ant Lucia has mastered the craft with these designs that mash up modern action figure features with a designer series for the niche collector.8. MEZCO ONE:12 COLLECTIVE OLD MAN LOGAN ($80)
2017 has been a good year so far for the Adamantium-laced Canadian with Hugh Jackman taking his final bow in the box office hit LOGAN. Now, the white hot MEZCO line, the ONE:12 COLLECTIVE takes a stab at the Old Man Logan from the original Mark Millar comic book series. This baby has it all including an actual green Banner Baby!

7. MARVEL GALLERY STATUE–CAPTAIN AMERICA SAM WILSON ($39.99)
I am really digging DST’s MARVEL GALLERY line and am glad to see them making some characters that we have not seen before in more traditional pieces. Here we have the Sam Wilson Captain America sculpted by longtime AFJ member, Jean St. Jean. Like most of JSJ’s work, this piece is flawless in design and execution and at a fair and reasonable price point. Definitely a new line to keep our eyes on for those Junkies looking for an action figure/statue hybrid.

6. MEZCO ONE:12 COLLECTIVE WOLVERINE ($80)
The classic look of Wolverine is coming to the MEZCO ONE:12 COLLECTIVE! After some tweaking of the brown shorts, MEZCO has created the perfect iteration of many Junkies favorite Wolverine costume. Completely feral and ready for a fight, this figure captures the old school look of Wolverine perfectly.

5. HASBRO STAR WARS BLACK SERIES TUSKEN RAIDER & LANDO CALRISSIAN ($19.99)
After an epic STAR WARS CELEBRATION this past weekend, Junkies are hungry for new BLACK SERIES figures. Finally we are getting a new figure to army build with the TUSKEN RAIDER and the smoothest cat in the galaxy, Space Pirate LANDO CALRISSIAN are finally coming home in BLACK SERIES form.

Right now, these can be reserved wholesale in solid cases, meaning that the whole case is six of the same character. I think that both of these figures are going to be very hot and hard to find once they hit the streets which should be around June-ish.

4. HASBRO AMAZON EXCLUSIVE MJOLNIR ($99.99)
The Mighty Thor had a heck of a week with the unexpected arrival of the first THOR RAGNAROK trailer. The sneak peek at the new MARVEL blockbuster obliterated its competition with an enormous amount of views online. Here we have Thor’s Mjolnir in 1:1 form from HASBRO’s still relatively new line of Cosplay prop replicas. Thor’s hammer is electronic, voice activated and very sturdy for Junkies that are serious about their Cosplaying or displaying.

3. HOT TOYS SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING (HOMEMADE SUIT VERSION) ($219.99
HOT TOYS strikes again! Now that we know that Peter Parker gets his awesome Spidey-suit taken away by Tony Stark, we understand more of why he still needs his homemade suit. I was skeptical on how this suit would translate into figure form but HOT TOYS does their usual amazing job of proving me wrong that all figures are created equal.

2. DIAMOND SELECT PULP FICTION FIGURES ($22.99 EACH)
It has been a long road but DST’s PULP FICTION action figures are finally ready to be pre-ordered with a set release date of September. I have been waiting forever on this first wave of figures from the seminal 90’s flick that turned the three-act movie structure on its head opening up a new breed of narrative. Very affordable with spot on sculpting and likenesses, these figures are sure to get you to start humming the opening of the surfer rock soundtrack.

1. HASBRO MARVEL LEGENDS BAF VULTURE WINGS ($170)
HASBRO is going all in on their BUILD-A-FIGURE (BAF) for this MARVEL LEGENDS wave with the first non-figure BAF. That’s right, Junkies will get to build the epic wingspan of Michael Keaton’s Vulture from the upcoming SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING. I love that they Rhode Island based toy outfit is trying something new as their LEGENDS line continues to gain steam and popularity among the toy collecting community. Now we just have to figure out which piece is going to be the hardest to procure.
