AFJ’S TOP 10 STAR WARS BLACK SERIES FIGURES

It is officially Star Wars Day, May the Fourth, and we here at AFJ tackled the monumental task of picking 10, yes 10, Star Wars Black Series figures. Since the line was announced we have been thrilled with many of, if not most of, the figures that have emerged in this line. We aren’t blind to the fact that several figures are nothing more than repaints or different heads on different bodies (Luke and Han in Stormtrooper disguise, we’re looking at you). Yet, more often than not, we get a spectacular figure that becomes a necessity for our collection. The following 10 Star Wars Black Series figures fall into that category. Happy Star Wars Day and May the Force be with you, always.

Luke Skywalker in X-Wing Outfit
Number: (2013/ 2014) – 001
Star Wars: Episode IV and V
Note: With this figure’s popularity on the rise since Star Wars Celebration Orlando, we wanted to highlight that many of you probably already own the original figure. Yes, Pilot Luke was the very first figure released in the Black Series line.

Boba Fett and Han Solo in Carbonite (2013 SDCC/ Star Wars Celebration Europe II)
Number: None, Con Exclusive
Star Wars: Episode V and VI
Note: Utterly fantastic and technically two figures!

Sabine Ren
Number: (2015/ 2017) – 33
Star Wars: Rebels (TV Series)
Note: Sabine was the runner-up in the fan choice contest, but we had a feeling she was going to get made regardless. This is an incredible figure.

Sandtrooper
Number: (2013/ 2014) – 003
Star Wars: Episode IV
Note: It is funny how it took Hasbro years to make a Sandtrooper in the POTF line. Yet he was number 3 out of the gate for the Black Series.

Bossk
Number: (2014/ 2015) – 10
Star Wars: Episode V
Note: Bossk was a figure you had to order. We never saw him in the stores.

Ello Atsy
Number: (2015/ 2017) – 14
Star Wars: Episode VII
Note: Yes, Ello met a tragic demise in The Force Awakens but look at the details on this figure.

K-2SO

Number: (2015/ 2017) 24
Star Wars: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
Note: An incredible figure and highly poseable. Easily our must buy of the Rogue One wave.

Ahsoka Tano

Number: (2015/ 2017) 20
Star Wars: Rebels (TV Series)
Note: This is Ahsoka Tano figure that fans always hoped would get.

Darth Revan
Number: (2015/ 2017) 34
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (Game)
Note: This was the first fan choice figure and Hasbro did right by those that voted for him. It is an outstanding likeness.

Hovertank Pilot
Number: None, Toys ‘R’ Us Exclusive
Star Wars: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
Note: A perfect example of giving the fans more troop building figures that they actually want.

**HONORABLE MENTION**

Grand Moff Tarkin
Number: Unknown at this time.
Star Wars: Episode IV and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
Note: The Grand Moff Tarkin figure was recently announced at Celebration Orlando. We would like to see it up close before we place it in our top 10. We are thrilled to see Peter Cushing getting his due. We also cannot wait to see what collectors do to this figure and make Hammer Film renditions of Cushing. With that being said, where is our Christopher Lee/ Count Dooku?
