I love becoming sleep deprived and placing pre-orders that I may or may not follow up on
10. JUSTICE LEAGUE 1/6 SCALE STATUE--THE FLASH ($119.99)
I have to say that I have been very skeptical about The Flash's new look in Zack Snyder's tentpole superhero film JUSTICE LEAGUE due later this year. Part of the reason is that I just do not see Ezra Miller usurping the amazing job that Grant Gustin is doing as Barry Allen/The Flash on the hit CW program. However, when I got to see this new Flash statue from DC COLLECTIBLES due out later this year, it was the first time that I was really digging the look of the film suit. While it does not have some of the hallmark's of the Scarlet Speedster's comic book costume, this statue is a really nice iteration of the fastest man alive. Lets just hope it looks great up on that giant IMAX screen this summer.
9. DIAMOND SELECT TOYS--MARVEL GALLERY STATUE IRONHEART ($39.99)
It may not be due to ship until the third quarter of 2017, I am a big fan of DST's solid addition of their MARVEL GALLERY STATUES. Not only is the price point totally doable, these pieces from DST are a terrific way to really class up your collection and put some pieces on display without having to work overtime to pay for them. This piece looked terrific last week at Toy Fair and it is great to see this line start to gain some traction as 2017 continues to chug along.
8. SUPER7 ALIENS WARRIOR 18-INCH CLASSIC TOY EDITION ($194.99)
You know it, you love it, you remember it, you need it back in your life. SUPER7 had a fantastic showing at last month's Toy Fair in NYC with the Bay area toymakers going back to the days of KENNER to reproduce the supposed successor to the original 18" ALIENS figure from 1979. The figure is fully articulated with glow accents, metallic snapping jaws that operate with a trigger on the back of the head and retro-style packaging to boot.
7. MAFEX KNIGHTMARE BATMAN ($49.99)
Although it is a year already since BATMAN V SUPERMAN hit multiplexes around the world, it seems that the figures from the film continue to outclass the film that received just mixed reviews from members of the Junkieverse. MAFEX aka "Miracle Action Figure EX," continues to make some seriously high-end pieces that stand a little taller than MARVEL LEGENDS but have some serious extra pop for the extra cash you are investing. The KNIGHTMARE BATMAN from the film's possible dystopian future sequence where Darkseid is running the show and Superman has an army of acolyte's definitely became Bats' most fan-favorite look for the Caped Crusader making this figure one that many Junkies have been waiting to purchase.
6. FUNKO POP! VINYLS TONY STARK SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING ($9.99)
FUNKO's booth at Toy Fair is not really a booth anymore--its an event in and of itself. As the Washington state based toy giant with the Midas touch prepares for the Summer movie season, some new POP! Vinyls debuted at the big show in NYC. Although this one was revealed via Instagram, it is far and away one of the coolest new POP's of 2017. And am I crazy or do the likenesses seem to continue to get better and better on these wildly popular collectibles?
5. REVOLTECH AMAZING YAMAGUCHI SPIDER-GWEN ($69.99)
The ultra-poseable line of figures from REVOLTECH are catching on in a major way with the Junkies. DEADPOOL & SPIDER-MAN did incredibly well with members of AFJ and if their is a female character that can get Junkies to sign over their paychecks for, it is most definitely SPIDER-GWEN. I am really digging this figure and think that all of the REVOLTECH AMAZING YAMAGUCHI figures are going to look terrific on one amazing shelf here at AFJ HQ.
4. HOT TOYS/SIDESHOW COLLECTIBLES--THE PUNISHER (NETFLIX DAREDEVIL SERIES) ($234.99)
It may be a long way until the first quarter of 2018 but when a HOT TOYS figure gets revealed, it is most definitely an event that all Junkies are attuned to. Here we have actor Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle aka THE PUNISHER from the second season of NETFLIX's amazing DAREDEVIL series. HOT TOYS rarely makes any mistakes and this new pre-order is no exception with the best detailing and tooling that money can buy. For the hardcore Junkie, this piece is a no-brainer with firepower and accessories that make you remember what this hobby is all about.
3. NECA PREDATOR 30TH ANNIVERSARY--JUNGLE DEMON PREDATOR ($34.99)
Hiding in plain sight at the NECA booth was this already pre-sold out JUNGLE DEMON PREDATOR that will help Junkies celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the first PREDATOR movie from 1987. Beautifully sculpted and packaged in a streamlined window-box, the JUNGLE DEMON was tough to find in the PREDATOR diorama that packed in figures from the entire 30 years of the property's existence. Out of all of the PREDATOR's produced by NECA, this one really vaulted to the top of my must have list before I was promptly sold out online!
2. FUNKO POP! VINYLS SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING VULTURE ($9.99)
I trust my instincts when it comes to MARVEL Films and Michael Keaton's VULTURE is tracking to be one of the hottest on-screen characters of 2017. The veteran comic actor continues to take chances by playing winged things (BATMAN, BIRDMAN and now THE VULTURE) proving that even MR. MOM himself can be one bad dude. The trailers with the first footage of The Vulture had Junkies going bananas so hopefully Keaton kills it come July. Now where is the unmasked variant POP! with Keaton's signature eyebrows up??
1. MAFEX SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING TOM HOLLAND SPIDER-MAN ($79.99)
After making his debut as Tony Stark's number one NYC based pupil in last year's CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR, Tom Holland is ready to step into the spotlight this Summer in his first solo Spidey film. To say I am excited is an understatement after Holland stole CIVIL WAR out from under A-list superhero actors like Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans & Scarlett Johansson. The British kid from across the pond seems to be the perfect choice to pick up the web-slinging mantle after Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, respectively. Everything is working in Spider-Man's favor right now after the debacle that was AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 and MARVEL acquiring the movie rights back from Columbia/SONY. It seems to be a foregone conclusion from the House of Ideas that Holland is poised to stick the landing come 7/7/17.
The MAFEX figure has been on my radar for the past few months and although it is not being released until the fourth quarter of the retail year, I think that it is perfect timing since the film will probably be set up to be released on Blu-Ray by the time Halloween rolls around. The Steve Ditko inspired suit really is on display in this MAFEX piece that will run you just about $80 with the real likeness of Tom Holland.
