Press Release: The celebration, was held at Austin’s Native Hostel, gathered Batman super fans for the unveiling of a custom mural painted by local artist Mez Data. Attendees were then transported via pedicab to Austin’s Congress Ave. Bridge, where accompanied by the infamous bat signal, shone on Lady Bird Lake, 1.5 million bats draped the night sky in honor of the Caped Crusader. ~500 people gathered on the bridge with DC in celebration.
DC will kicked-off the 80th Anniversary of Batman at this year’s South by Southwest (SXSW), honoring the World’s Greatest Detective who has shaped superhero fandom and permeated every area of modern entertainment. Throughout the festival, attendees enjoyed fan experiences, photo opportunities, and limited-edition merchandise to honor #LongLiveTheBat.
