What is Marvel and Disney's loss comes DC and Warner's gain. The news has hit the web that the former/ fired Guardians of the Galaxy's writer and director, James Gunn, will be moving to the Suicide Squad sequel.
From The Hollywood Reporter: "Gunn, who was fired from the third installment in his Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, has come on board to write, with an eye to direct, Suicide Squad sequel, the DC-based project at Warner Bros.
Gunn has closed a deal to pen the script. At this stage, there is no director deal but talks could proceed depending on the outcome" (read the full story HERE).
Gunn was fired due to comments he made on Twitter (from years ago before he worked for Disney), which then placed him back on the market. Disney/ Marvel will be using Gunn's script for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 however that will be the end of his involvement.
AFJ's Take: Gunn is the right fit for the Suicide Squad franchise, obviously look at the Guardians movies. This could be another step in fixing the sinking ship that the DCEU has become.
