Jordan Peele has tweeted out the first teaser trailer for his 2019 reboot of The Twilight Zone. The series, for CBS All-Access, will be in the same vein of Rod Serling's seminal and groundbreaking show that ran from 1959 1964. Like Serling, Peele will also host the show.
Peele told Variety last month, “The realization, for me, was that it was an opportunity to attempt to continue with Serling’s mission. If we approach it without ego and sort of bow to Serling, that will hopefully suffice for our fellow ‘Twilight Zone’ fans but also bring back a show that I think is needed right now. Because it’s a show that has always helped us look at ourselves, hold a mirror up to society.”
AFJ's Take: If Peele can hold up the mirror to our society and tell tales like Black Mirror does in the same vein as the original Twilight Zone, then sign us up. Hopefully, the series will reach out and grab new talent to tell short stories as the original did and as Amazing Stories did in the late eighties.
