Variety is reporting that DC Entertainment's big screen adaptation of The Flash is getting a new release date of 2021.
From Variety: "The standalone Flash film is now expected to commence production in late 2019. That likely means the superhero adventure won’t debut in theaters until some time in 2021" (see full article HERE).
The reason for this being is that Ezra Miller's schedule will be busy filling the third installment to the Fantastic Beasts franchise in July of 2019. However, that isn't the only news to emerge about the DCEU.
Variety is also reporting that Warner Bros. will be moving forward without the current Batman (Ben Affleck) and Superman (Henry Cavill).
From Variety: "Following the box office disappointment of “Justice League,” Warner Bros. has been reevaluating its approach to making movies based on DC Comics characters. The studio is not moving forward with Batman and Superman movies featuring Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill, respectively".
AFJ's Take: One cannot blame Warner Bros. for pushing the release date back on any all current DCEU projects like The Flash or even the Cyborg movie. Everything right now is really depending on Aquaman's success. Which is sad, but audiences are now wary of any DCEU projects because the quality is not there. Aquaman may fail without ever getting the chance it rightfully deserves to stand on its own simply by association and the lack of a certain Amazon.
Warner Bros. knows that the Fantastic Beasts franchise is a safer bet and Ezra Miller's talents are better spent there than running around being the Flash. As for Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill, we wish they would just come out and claim they are done or that they have one or two more films in them. Why? The fans deserve the chance to move on or at least look forward to one more adventure. All this speculation, hearsay, and second-guessing isn't really fair to those that actually care about these characters and films. In the end, its just job to Affleck and Cavill, they are actors. Come on guys, if you are done, be done and allow us to move on. #AFJ4LIFE
