Today is his day, the day that Jason Voorhees reins supreme, for it is Friday the 13th. The unstoppable killing machine has struck fear in the hearts of millions, so naturally, the unstoppable psychopath has action figures. Over the past three decades, encompassing twelve films, Jason has spawned a lot of action figures.  The following list is a complete breakdown of thirteen best Jason figures to date. #AFJ4LIFE

13. Jason Goes to Hell (Friday the 13th Part 9)

Actor: Kane Hodder
Company: McFarlane Toys
Series: Movie Maniacs Series 1
Released in the fall of 1998, at what might have been the height of McFarlane Horror Movie properties, Jason was crazy with details right down to the horrific face under the mask. The downside to this figure was poor articulation and the mask kept falling off once you looked where few have dared. McFarlane set the bar really high with this Jason but it has been long since surpassed. A great retro collectible, it was one of the first Jason figures.

12. Friday the 13th Part 7: The New Blood
CC_NECAFriday the 13th Part 7- The New Blood
Actor: Kane Hodder
Company: NECA
Series: Cult Classics Series 1
Besides the Jason likeness, almost down to the pose, of McFarlane’s Movie Maniacs, this Jason boasted better accessories. More importantly this Jason came with a base to help him stand. NECA had an 18-inch version of the exact same figure but this smaller figure captured the spirit of Jason in Part 7 perfectly. If you have one or find one don’t open him. They sell for close to fifty dollars on some websites.

11. Friday the 13th Part 3 to Part 9
Gentle Giant Ltd JASON
Actor: None
Company: Gentle Giant Ltd.
Series: Animated
If you watch Friday the 13th and root for Jason then what better-limited edition ten and a half inch piece could you want? Here is your anti-hero in iconic animated form joining the likes of Freddy Kruger and numerous Star Wars characters. If you have deep enough pockets this maquette is perfect for your Jason collection.

10. Jason Goes to Hell (Friday the 13th Part 9)
Cinema of Fear Series 3Actor: Kane Hodder

Company: Mezco Toyz
Series: Cinema of Fear Series 3
Jason Goes to Hell took the character in a different direction and really only featured Jason in the beginning. The rest of the movie played more like that great science fiction horror film The Hidden (1987). Nobody expected Jason to be a slimy demon jumping from person to person. The slimy demon is included but this Jason represents the last time Hodder played him on this planet if you get my meaning. He also represents how Mezco took McFarlane’s concept of detail to the next level. If only McFarlane would go back to this type of figure and stop making the various sports athletes.

9. Jason X
Movie Maniacs Series 5 Jason X
Actor: Kane Hodder
Company: McFarlane Toys
Series: Movie Maniacs Series 5
Outside of the first ten to twenty minutes of the movie the rest is a total bore. It is almost a science fiction comedy. Again proving that the series’ biggest lure and the flaw is that we care for no one and root for the bad guy. McFarlane still delivered a perfect likeness of cybernetic Jason. Looking more like Frankenstein than ever before this is the Jason figure most people will notice. It is also the last Jason Voorhees figure by McFarlane.

8. Friday the 13th The Video Game

Actor: None
Company: NECA
Series: This San Diego Comic-Con 2013 is the perfect likeness of his video game counterpart. Now, I am not 100% sure that we actually got to see Jason unmasked in the game, however, here it is a nice touch by NECA. We are thrilled that NECA has kept this trend going with their releases over the years, yet it is the box that is the icing on the cake (see video).

7. Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter
CINEMA OF FEAR Roto-Plush Series 1 Jason
Actor: Ted White
Company: Mezco Toyz
Series: CINEMA OF FEAR Roto-Plush Series 1
He is cute, in a weird sort of way. What better gift is there to give to your Goth sweetheart on Valentines Day or Halloween? Mezco has gone all out with their CINEMA OF FEAR Roto-Plush series capitalizing on the kitsch of the films. Their Freddy in a tuxedo is the best by far but this Jason has that odd quirkiness making him worth picking up and then him putting down again. It is just so creepy and fun at the same time.

6. Friday the 13th Part 6: Jason Lives
MEZCO Cinema Fear Jason Lives
Actor: C.J. Graham
Company: Mezco Toyz
Series: Cinema of Fear
Jason appears to be more on the Rambo side with his weapons and belt than in any other movie. Jason is still closer to being human in appearance despite his resurrection in this film. This smaller version of Jason by Mezco from part 6 is more affordable than his Sideshow Collectible counterpart further down the list. The retro look works and so does that tombstone.

5. Freddy Vs. Jason
Freddy Vs. Jason
Actor: Ken Kirzinger
Company: NECA
Series: Freddy Vs. Jason
Standing at nineteen inches and complete with movie sounds this Jason might not be best-looking figure on the list but stands tall above all the rest. Jason was more down to Earth in this film than his last two pictures (slimy demon and cyber-man). Despite the fact that he never talks, Jason manages to the steal the movie from the wisecracking Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund). A great acting feat if there ever was one.

4. Friday the 13th Part 3 to Part 9
Cinema of Fear Stylized JASON Mezco
Actor: None
Company: Mezco Toyz
Series: Cinema of Fear Stylized
Originally this Jason was a New York Comic Con exclusive (2008). He captures the look of a lot of different Jasons and delivers a great iconic appeal. The severed head is a great touch but as it is with any Jason, it all comes down to the mask and this one is perfect.

3. Friday the 13th Part 6: Jason Lives
Friday the 13th Part 6: Jason Lives
Actor: C.J. Graham
Company: Sideshow Collectibles
Series: New Line House of Horrors
As usual, Sideshow Collectibles has one of the best Jason figures/ dolls of all time. They do have numerous other versions of Jason from the later movies, all with variations on the costumes and masks. This Jason, an exclusive, stands out because he as one unique accessory: a severed arm! Good luck trying to find this one. He has been sold out for some time.

2. Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood
Friday the 13th Part VII- The New Blood MEZCO
Actor: Kane Hodder
Company: Mezco Toyz
Series: Cinema of Fear
He proudly stands on my desk and his details still shock not only me but anyone that walks into the room. Complete with three different bloodstained weapons, real cloth shirt and two masks Mezco outdid themselves with this Jason. This twelve-inch figure set the bar pretty high. You can still get this Jason on Amazon.

1. Friday the 13th Part 1 and Part 2
Friday the 13th 25th Anniversary Action Figures
Actor: Jason: Steve Dash, Jason Unmasked: Warrington Gillette, Mrs. Voorhees: Betsy Palmer
Company: NECA
Series: Friday the 13th 25th Anniversary Action Figures
With the original going back to its roots, but only lightly touching upon Mrs. Voorhees, the final spot has to go to the woman that started it all. This 25th Anniversary collector’s set is a must-have featuring two figures, two sets of different heads per character and the Voorhees shrine. What more could any true fan want?
