Junkies, yesterday HBO posted their second trailer for the upcoming season of Westworld (which premieres April 22nd at 9 pm), and if I wasn’t already excited based of the first trailer from a month ago, I am now. Set to Heart-Shaped Box, (Nirvana) in the show’s signature tone of a piano rendition, the trailer is setting up a season of rebellion from the hosts against the human world.
Currently (March 30th) the video is trending #1 on YouTube with more than 2.4 million views and for good reason. The show is huge, with Deadline reporting that it is “the most-watched first season of an HBO original series ever.” The show successfully navigated an intriguing plot that kept viewers guessing and theorizing until the last episode and long after. Season two looks to be doubling down on that premise by adding in some small details that made me go, “wait, what does that mean?” Particularly, a short shot of Jimmi Simpson’s William walking up to Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood), in the dark. What does that mean? More Flashbacks? Or is he a Host now?
Regardless of that, we can expect to see, what is now officially named (as the Hollywood Reporter reported), ShogunWorld. We saw a glimpse of it in the fallout at the end of season one, but we should be spending more time there since Thandie Newton’s Maeve Millay will be there. I am incredibly excited to see what stage that World’s Hosts are at with the Maze. Let me know what you think, Junkies, What will we see this season? Will they answer any of our most pressing questions from season one?
